Asia Yacht Focus #5: Nero

Commissioned by Corsair Yachts at the CIMC Yantai Raffles yard in 2007, 90.1m (295.6ft) Nero is an elegant vessel with capacity for 12 guests and 22 crew.

Designed by Neil Taylor, it combines a modern yacht with retro styling.  Features include a classic promenade deck with teak loungers, a library room inspired by the Lapis Lounge on Aristotle Onassis’ yacht ‘Christina ‘ and an indoor dining salon lit by tiny oil lamps.

“We looked at the European yards, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, and the only place that we found that had the enthusiasm and the facilities to do what we wanted to do was China,” Taylor says.

Corsair Yachts and Yantai Raffles signed an agreement that allowed Corsair to rent the shipyard’s space and contract its labour force to install fittings. Next, Corsair Yachts assembled a team of 30 experts with references from yards such as Benetti and Lürssen.

Nero undertook an extensive refit in 2016 and features a stunning interior by Laura Pomponi.
